I haven’t tried any, but something like Backup Scheduler:Time Editor looks like it does a similar task. Its mere existence means that zillions of people have. TimeMachineEditor edits the Time Machine. If you still don’t feel happy about it, then there are options in the Mac App Store. It’s a free utility that takes control of Time Machine scheduling. I can’t vouch for TimeMachineEditor, but beloved Apple journalist Jason Snell has been using it for some time, and recommends it, which is good enough for me. You can change the interval or decide to make daily, weekly and monthly backups. it changes the one-hour interval of Time Machine backups. Some folks might be worried about installing an app from outside the App Store, especially one which uses an installer package like TimeMachineEditor, and therefore requires an administrator’s password. Time Machine Editor ( free software) allows you to specify a schedule for Time Machine to run. As such, it supports everything that Time Machine supports - features like Power Nap, and the aforementioned APFS Local Snapshots. TimeMachineEditor just edits the schedule. Everything is still handled by the native Time Machine service. Pressing it brings up a sheet where you can set a day and time to wake up and another to go to sleep. Schedule hourly, daily, weekly and monthly backups. But then, my own systems are running so well, I wouldnt care to try this myself. In there, at the bottom-right, is a 'Schedule'. The backup interval option enables you to choose a time interval of 1 hour or more to schedule Time Machine backups manually. Id guess you could turn TM off, remove the icon from the Dock, delete the program from the Applications folder, and then remove the TimeMachine.prefPane from System/Library/PreferencePanes. Go to System Preferences, then the Energy Saver pane. You can use the following script to add timemachine-scheduler-1.2.2.jar to your project. You can download jar file timemachine-scheduler 1.2.2 in this page. It’s important to note that TimeMachineEditor doesn’t actually take over the backups.
